Travel along one of the most scenic railway lines in England and enjoy a day filled with pure nostalgia. From the moment your vintage train chugs into the platform, to sinking into your comfortable seat, all of life’s stresses and strains will melt away as we travel mile after mile through picturesque British countryside with stunning coastal views on our way to the English Riviera.

Leaving London behind we begin our journey hauled by vintage diesel before picking up our steam locomotive in Taunton. From here the panoramic views unfold beyond the window as we run along the estuary of the Exe River. Sweeping round the mouth of the river, we run along the seashore for mile after mile before joining the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway where our steam locomotive will be put through its paces as she climbs high above the Devon hills before descending into the Dart Estuary at Kingswear.

Paignton

One of the brightest jewels in the English Riviera’s crown, as you arrive in the seaside resort of Paignton, you are met with the welcoming sight of its long stretch of beautiful and easily accessible beachfront, promenade, traditional pier, colourful beach huts and green.

Kingswear for Dartmouth

Set opposite the town of Dartmouth, on the banks of the River Dart, Kingswear is a charming characterful village that has some of the most beautiful views across the Dart. The village is the perfect place to while away a few hours in this pretty seaside destination. For those who like to explore a little further afield, it is just a short ferry crossing from Kingswear to Dartmouth, a vibrant harbour town with pretty cobbled streets lined with independent shops and galleries.

On a full day journey, guests will be welcomed on board with our signature Champagne cocktail, followed by a multicourse breakfast. On the return journey, wine is served alongside a seasonal evening meal, concluding with cheese board, coffee and petit fours.

First Class offers guests an unparalleled journey into the past aboard elegantly restored carriages with comfortable and spacious seating around tables of two and four.

A sanctuary for those seeking a refined and leisurely journey without dining-on-board, First Class guests are welcomed on board with Bucks Fizz and freshly brewed coffee and tea. You can sink into your seat as scenic vistas unfold beyond the windows. Indulge in an optional Afternoon Tea experience or bring along your own picnic hamper to enjoy on board.
